Fashion is a means of individual expression for English Sophie Lloyd, founder and owner of Shop Hop BA. Fashion is not about sheepishly copying the latest catwalk appearances, it is about finding your own style. Sophie is having coffee in her favourite bar around the corner from her house in Palermo. She is wearing a gorgeous mint-green cape, sixtyish with big buttons. Sophie loves vintage, and this cape certainly owns the style but no, here is a brand new and fresh find at one of her many BA private-showroom-contacts, the best kept secrets in town. The green color contrasts beautifully with her light blond hair. Sophie is not your standard fashion doll; she is soft-spoken and modest, it’s obvious that she is very committed and responsible in her work. She demands quality at the store and has the confidence to play and experiment with new styles, clothes, hats, shoes, finding out what fits her personality and her clients’. Sophie grew up in York in the north of the UK and studied English literature in Edinburgh. After finishing her studies she travelled around and decided to go and live in Shanghai, China for three months. She ended up staying for five years, working as a fashion journalist for an English language newspaper, combining her writing skills with her life-long fascination with fashion. In 2010 she decided to give Buenos Aires a go. She wanted to learn Spanish and had heard great things about the city. More importantly, she founded her own company Shop Hop BA, something she had always wanted to do. Sophie knows her way blind around the city, a result of her quest to find the best unique fashion pieces, accessories, footwear, original gifts and interior decoration items for her high-end clientele. She has a great eye for what’s cool and different, offering new ideas, never losing sight of the special wishes and personalities of each of her clients, keeping both feet on the ground.
